Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's initial Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she had completed 53 deals. One of them was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in a Catholic Irish working class family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran's childhood. At times, her family relied upon deliveries of food for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran says her father was a drunken man who treated her mother with disrespectful and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education and later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began the high school system in St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. After failing several courses in her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she graduated as a D student.
